I have had the privilege of teaching at four universities, South Dakota State University, Black Hills State University, Colorado State University, and the University of Central Oklahoma. My class sizes have ranged from 20 students to 220 students while teaching a wide variety of course material. You can click on any of the semesters below to obtain a better description of the course. "I thought you were a great teacher, Liz. I got a 100% on two of my midterms- something I didn't think I could do. Apparently, though, I was easily able to comprehend what you taught, in the way that you taught it. Thanks."
"I appreciate all the examples we did in class, especially the opportunity to try them on our own. I found this very helpful. I find explanations/lecturing alone doesn't help me understand math but being able to do problems in class made everything much more clear and understandable. This is the first time I have ever felt like I'm good at math, it makes sense and I actually like it. This is an awesome discovery. Thanks for being such a good teacher!"
"I appreciate your enthusiasm and also your sense of humor, made class time go fast and enjoyable. Teaching-wise, I thought you were great. You convey the message and showed us how and when to use things, and honestly that's what should be teaching in math. Also appreciated the practicality part of things. Thank you!"
"Calc II is hard. Liz does a great job of teaching with examples. She should coordinate the course."
"I learned a lot this semester, both in Calculus and in studying, all from this course! So thank you!"
"This is my favorite course this semester. The instructor does an amazing job teaching the class. She actually answers the questions the students have and does not make you feel stupid for asking them. Overall I really enjoyed the class because of the instructor and the way she taught. Good job Liz!"
"Liz was a great instructor. One of the best math teachers I've had."
"I thought that you effectively taught the class. I always felt prepared for the tests. You were very knowldegeable about the subject matter. You have a very effective style of teaching. My only issue was at the start of the semester, there was a little issue of board organization that was fixed quickly."
"I really enjoyed this class and how you presented the information. This is a very fair course but also challenging. Great job. Would love to have you as an instructor for future courses!"
"Liz Lane-Harvard is by far the best math instructor that I have had in a while. She makes it very easy to understand the material."
"Liz was a great teacher! She knew the material well and was able to meet outside of office hours if needed. She cared about the success of each student."
"She's a great visual teacher. She goes at a great pace and always is looking and pausing so we can ask questions. She comes very prepared each day and makes hard concepts seem easy. Clearly she knows what she's teaching!"
"I believe Liz is a very dedicated instructor and extremely helpful. She is approachable and has the patience of a saint! Great teacher!"
"A great teacher. Needs a promotion ASAP. Very gifted teacher and creates a great learning atmosphere for all types of learners."
"Elizabeth has been the best math teacher I have ever had. I find this amazing because this is such a big class. Elizabeth's way of teaching has resulted in me passing all 3 exams with an A. I believe I have actually learned and understand these calculus methods. Elizabeth goes over every single possible math problem in detail and also answers all the questions asked of her. She teaches in a way that makes complete sense by going over every little step and repeating it throughout the lesson. I am so thankful she was my calc teacher."
"The instructor did a good job of putting a new twist on material I had learned previously in high school but had always had a hard time understanding fully. She has an obvious grasp of the material and that showed in her ability to thoroughly answer questions."
"I think Liz did a really good job teaching this course and I think Liz did a really good job being available for students who needed help. I definitely would recommend her to other students looking for a good calculus teacher."
